Asos on Facebook
It wasnt so long ago that in order to buy that 'special something' for a night out, it meant actually having to leaving the house - but how things have changed! Now, with Asos leading the way, you can combine your love of shopping with social networking. Asos has launched Asos.com on Facebook where you can search, watch catwalk shows and even purchase your items all within the social networking site.
Asos.com says: "Discover Fashion Online - shop the world’s biggest wardrobe – over 850 brands and 1,500 new styles each week. Stay social - Like, share and shop ASOS on Facebook." I loved the idea of Asos on Facebook, but I wasnt sure how effective it would be as I had never come across anything like this before - I've always been a fan of the original website (www.asos.com).
Once you've 'Liked' the site within Facebook, the shopping experience begins. The site itself is very much the same as the original which, for me, is what I wanted to see. It's easy to search the items using the search function and, as an added bonus over the original page, you can use the 'share' function. This allows you to post to your wall all the things you are looking at, so you can get the opinion of your friends.
After you've found what you are looking for, the buying process itself is quick, easy-to-use, and well laid-out. There was no unease or worry because its on a social networking site - I feel completely safe adding in my card details as I would with any other regular website.
In all, my experience with Asos.com on Facebook was a pleasant one, and I have no qualms about using it regularly. I look forward to more companies taking note and becoming Facebook sites. I think in today's society - where almost everyone and everything is dominated by some form of social network - it certainly won't do retailers any harm and will aid to the overall customer experience.
